My Favorite Places in Nashville
Beyond the honky tonks: where I moved, thought, and ate my way through Music City
Everyone knows Nashville for its music, its neon, and its honky tonks. I love all of it. But on this trip I found a quieter Nashville, one that fed my body, my mind, and my spirit.
I travel the way I teach: Move. Think. Eat. These are the places that let me live all three, even far from home.
Here are my favorites, beyond the boot-scootin’ crowds.
Where I Stayed: The Hermitage Hotel
The historic Hermitage Hotel has welcomed travelers in downtown Nashville for over a century, and it has been honored with Michelin Keys. Marble, warm light, and quiet hallways make it feel like a deep exhale after a travel day.
Move: I filmed this week’s Yoga Nest class, Core & Flow at The Hermitage, right here in a sunlit room framed by tall windows.
Eat: Don’t miss Drusie & Darr, the hotel’s restaurant from chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Fresh, vibrant food in a stunning historic room.
Southall Inn & Farm, Franklin
Just south of the city in Franklin, Southall Inn & Farm (@southalltn) feels like a different world. Golden grasses, pumpkins stacked on hay bales, and the slow rhythm of a working farm.
I spent the day here with my friend Jessica, who moved to Nashville and is truly living her best life. We wandered the farm, talked about everything that matters, and soaked up the fall light.
Think: Leaving my routine woke my brain right up. New places invite beginner’s mind.
Restore: The spa is a gift. Pair it with a slow walk around the farm and you have a full body reset.
E+Rose Wellness Cafe
E+Rose is a homegrown Nashville wellness cafe with locations across the city. Bright, clean, and nourishing, it is my kind of place.
Eat: Order the Fire Flour Toast. Thank me later.
Then take a walk afterward. Even ten easy minutes after a meal helps your body steady its blood sugar. Pleasure and wisdom can share a plate.
Move. Think. Eat. On the Road
Your practice does not stay home when you travel. Move before you unpack. Do one ordinary thing differently and let your brain wake up. Eat what is fresh and local, slowly, and walk afterward.
Your routine is a beautiful container, but you are not meant to live only inside it.
