" Words fail to convey the total value of yoga. It has to be experienced!"
-B.K.S. Iyengar, Yoga Master

The experience that yoga has to offer is beyond words - however we have attempted to describe for you what is an almost an endless list of benefits..and as we age the benefits become greater. The older we get the more we need yoga!
Yoga is a superior, gentle form of weight-bearing exercise because it stimulates the bones throughout the entire body. As yoga postures are learned gradually, the weight that is applied to the bones increases in increments until the student is stronger and able to hold the postures longer.

Reduces stress and delivers a sense of well being
Stimulates and regulates digestion and elimination
Awakens, rejuvenates, and invigorates your whole body.
Lose weight and increase strength, endurance, flexibility and will power through yoga's natural body awareness approach that is free of the stressful "dieting" and "gym-workout" mentality.
Eases PMS and peri- and post- menopausal symptoms
Reduces tension headaches and relieves sinus pressure.
Ease lower back pain and promotes healing after injury.
Lubricates joints, ligaments, and tendons.
Injured and stiff joints can experience yoga's therapeutic benefits through an increase in the range of motion-gradually rehabilitating and inhibiting any further degeneration of the joint tissue. Healthy joints are maintained and supported as well.

>>>>>Additional Benefits:
Promotes optimal physical health by strengthening the immune system and energizing the nervous system.
Lowers blood pressure and improves cardiovascular function
Releases accumulated emotional and physical tension.
Detoxifies and cleanses the bloodstream and whole body.
Tones, activates and massages all the bodies systems
Yoga reverses the aging process by reversing gravity.
The downward pull of gravity is reversed through inverted postures to help the body retain balance, coordination and symmetry. Being upside down reverses the force of gravity releasing the stress and tension caused by gravity on the blood vessels of the brain, lungs, ligaments, blood vessels and organs in the abdominal cavity. When inverted, the blood circulates easily around the neck, chest and head stimulating the thyroid and parathyroid glands balancing hormone regulation. The lungs, throat, and sinuses become more resistant to infection. The brain becomes flooded with oxygen due to increased blood flow which is invigorating and clears the head, slowing the process of aging.

>>>>>Additional Benefits:
Helps balance mental, emotional, and physical energy reducing stress and anxiety, anger and hostility.
Increases blood circulation and stimulates the glands.
Increases strength and flexibility of the spine, muscles, and joints.
Improves overall tone and suppleness of your body.
Improves Sleep, Memory, Focus and Posture
Decreases pain and increases stamina and energy
In alternative medicine, yoga is often used to treat health conditions such as: Arthritis, Asthma, Cancer, Chronic Pain, Depression, Fibromyalgia, Heart Disease, HIV/AIDS, and Obesity.
As students begin to learn the postures and experience the physical benefits of a consistent yoga practice, they soon realize what is rejuvenating to their body is also empowering to their spirit. New students also recognize that learning yoga postures is a process rather than a destination as each asana unfolds its' infinite lessons and experiences.
